Our People - MANU AO Staff

Dr Selwyn Katene is Director of the MANU AO Academy. He was formerly General Manager of the Mental Health Commission, advisor to the Minister of Health, and a senior manager in the Ministry of Health and Public Health Commission. Previously, he held several senior marketing management positions in the pharmaceutical industry. He has a BA (Hons), MA, and MPM from Victoria University, and a PhD from Massey University. His tribal affiliations are Ngāti Toa, Ngāti Tama, Ngaruahine and Ngāti Tūwharetoa.

Rawiri Tinirau is the Project Manager for MANU AO with the responsibility of implementing key projects, such as the Leadership Course and Academic Forums. Rawiri has expertise in Project management; Māori event management; Māori business and organisations; and Māori oral history. He has tribal affiliations to Te Āti Haunui-ā-Pāpārangi, Ngāti Rangi, Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Ngāti Kahungunu me Ngāi Tūhoe.

Taniya Ward is the Project Co-ordinator/Administrator for MANU AO and co-ordinates the weekly seminars, administration and communications including maintenance of the website. Taniya has many years of management and administration experience in the social services, Māori health scholarship and sports management sectors. She has tribal affiliations to Ngāti Porou, Ngāti Awa and Te Arawa.
